The Next Step

I’m excited to announce a new chapter in my life. I’ve started work as a full-time Senior Interactive Designer at Liquidus Marketing in Chicago. They are a video-advertising tech company with a host of products for making interactive digital ads. I’m mostly excited for this job as it’s a great chance for me to grow as an interactive designer by working with UX masterminds, developers, and tech-savvy geeks. I will be doing extensive design work on the UI and UX of their products and website as well as building and solidifying their brand.

What’s really exciting is the great team and culture at Liquidus. It’s a group of incredibly smart folks who empower their employees to do their best work as well as to grow as individuals. They push for a cross-pollination of skills and abilities and encourage sharing skills and know-how. And it’s also a great group of people to go out and grab a drink with.

All in all, I’m really excited to be working here and hopefully building and developing my skills as a designer.

But wait! What’s that o’ weary eyed internet troll? You ask what will happen to THE business – your business – Flatfoot Design?

Changing Course

Since starting my own business, I’ve learned that what I enjoy most is making art. Creating something that people can enjoy is my main love and it’s were the only boss I have to answer to are my own occasionally-psychotic artistic whims. In that sense, Flatfoot Design will continue to add new work, rant about the design industry, and share design goodness on this very website. I’ll be taking clients on a very limited and selective capacity and I will be working on quite a few personal projects.

Sessions App
I’m working on my first IPhone app called Sessions – a music app for the IPhone. While you probably won’t see this for some time, it is very much a priority for myself. Once the design, marketing strategy, and budget are established, I am hoping to put it up on Kickstarter to fund the development and building process.

Kooala
Kooala is going to be a music and art website curated by my brother and I. We hope to share what we’ve become obsessed with lately and it’s delivered with all the dry wit mankind could possibly handle.

Wedding Invitation Season
Quite a few friends and friends of friends are getting married so I will be (hopefully) getting myself knee-deep into designing invitations. Fun stuff if the bride doesn’t kill me first!

EPs, EPs, Eps!
I am also in the process of writing some music and possibly releasing it. I’m not sure what alias it will go out as or how long it might take for me to finish this round of writing. Still, I’ve been putting this off for years so I’m excited to get back on track for this.

So as you can see, I’ll be plenty busy in the coming months. Stay in touch and stay tune true believers! (Bless you Stan Lee).
